RawHyde Adventures: Buying a bike, Intro to Adventure, BCA

Where are you on your motorcycle journey? It's what you've been through to get to the rider you are today. If this was a video game, what level would you be at?  If you've read my Joining the Boxer club post recently, you'll have an idea of where I was on that journey. That was BEFORE my recent trip to California. Going to Raw Hyde was like warp zones from mario brothers, allowing me to quickly get through levels in a very compacted amount of time. The short version is, I bought a used bike from raw hyde, then went to them for a 2 day Intro to Adventure course, followed by a 2 day adventure in the desert (BCA). Read on for more detail....

Nexx XD1: Installing a Sena 20S

Nexx XD1: Installing a Sena 20S

Woo! I got the new NEXX XD1. Its a helmet that seems to have all the boxes checked, with all the features. It seems to be a little low on some quality finishes, but overall it looks really great. I wore it for a few hours around the house, and got to installing my SENA 20S in it. I'll write a little review after I go for a few rides in it. This post is all about installing the 20S in to the XD1.

Joining the Boxer Club

Joining the Boxer Club

How long have you been riding? It’s a question you hear often amongst riders and you’ll usually hear an answer based on time. I myself have been riding for about 2.5 years. How that equates to experience though, not very well. In reality, a better way to gauge experience would be mileage. It’s not the only way, there are a lot of other factors, but to me mileage is a better measurement. I've ridden around 25k miles in those 2.5 years. A lot has happened since then, and now, I join the Boxer Club.

Denali Power Hub 2

Denali Power Hub 2

I bought this months ago, and finally got around to installing it. Having a garage really helps, and since I'm now garage equipped, it was easier to work on the bike. I bought the power hub because I have too many electrical devices hard wired directly to my bikes battery. That and my aux lights could be turned on at any time because of the way they were wired, key in or not.

S.O.L.A.S Reflective Stickers

S.O.L.A.S Reflective Stickers

Originally I had black discrete 3M reflective stickers on my varios cases. That was when the cases were new and scratch free, i was trying to keep the look clean. Over the past year the cases have taken some damage, and due to having to replace a part on one of them, i was now in need of new reflective stickers. I heard great things about S.O.L.A.S and it hasn't disappointed. It was also really easy to install.

Dainese Jacket Tear and Replace

Dainese Jacket Tear and Replace

Last summer I did quite a bit of research looking for a great summer jacket. The summers in NYC are hot and humid. Pair that with a commuting life style, stop and go traffic, you really need something that breathes. I settled on the Dainese Air Flux. I loved it, rocked it all summer and it was perfect. Light weight, and stylish. I barely felt it on. This spring my brother in law took a little spill on his "new to him" harley sportster, while borrowing my jacket. It was a slow speed 20mph fall, and the jacket was damaged beyond enough to warrant a replacement. Looking at the damage to the jacket, and to my brother in law, i realized that the jacket wouldn't do great at any fall at faster speeds than that. I went to research a worth replacement.
